Spinal Tap: That might be the best way to describe Wookie Luv over the
last year. Most notably for the new face behind the kit gig after gig
after gig(you get the picture) and for other reasons to be revealed as
the band continues it's molting process. After Rick Cruz, founding
member and originist of the Wookie Luv band name, decided to pursue a
steady family life, the band sifted through a handful of drummers, all good, but not of Wookie lineage.
In April 2002, Randy recruited Joe Nunez, the steady force of
Novembers Doom(growling type of death metal band) to come join the
Wookie forces. Since, November's only does a handful a gigs a year,
mostly out state festivals and such, Joe liked the idea of gigging
regularly. The idea of a metal drummer seemed like an odd fit at first,
but the mix proved invaluable, creating a power pop mix. An avid music
lover of all types, you can also hear Joe filling in high harmonies on
early Beatles songs and strong vocal leads on Janes addiction and Lenny
Kravitz songs, but most notably, Joe will steer the band through the
night, creating the dynamic Wookie punch you'll feel in your loins.
(he,he) On breaks and off nights, you can often fine Joe sipping on a
Guinness, alone and in darkness. .
